Card #5 Butterfly Die Cut Glitter Card

Welcome to card #5!

This card was inspired by a Jennifer McGuire video.  She is another great person to follow to learn about card-making.

Again, be aware of any lingering glitter on your hands when working with the adhesive paper.  That's why there ended up being hearts on the card.  They are covering up pink fingerprints.

Materials Used
Simons Says Stamp Butterfly Drift Die
Double-Sided Adhesive Paper
Stampendous Microfine Glitter (Pink, Purple)
Elizabeth Crafts Glitter (Cool Diamond, Black)
Sizzix Hearts Die
White/Pink Cardstock

Hero Arts Unicorn Ink
Foam Tape

Still On Track Card #3

I tried a new technique for today's card.  I used an Elizabeth Crafts sticker sheet with double sided adhesive paper, microfine glitter, and alcohol markers.  You adhere the adhesive paper to cardstock, add the sticker, burnish the microfine glitter in, and then color as you desire.

It was pretty easy, although I would point out that if there is any debris or stray glitter on your hands or worktable it will transfer to the adhesive paper very easily and could mess up the card.  I was able to mask it fairly well with the dark green color.

I love this technique because it reminds me of stained glass and sparkles so  much.  Again, the picture doesn't really do the card justice.

Materials Used
Elizabeth Crafts Glitter Cool Diamond
Spectrum Noir Markers (See Below for Colors)
White Cardstock
Bazzill Cardstock Jawbreaker
Glitzy Gold Paper
Small Heart Punch
Double Sided Adhesive Paper
Sentiment Stamp from Simon Says January 2015 Card Kit
Hero Arts Unicorn Ink

Happy New Year and All That Jazz

Well it's officially 2015, even though today feels much like yesterday.  Little Man is playing with this new laptop, and is apparently more obsessed with Portal than he is Minecraft.  Deputy D is watching football again, because apparently holidays for men are measured by what games are playing on TV.  Poor thing, wonder what he will do on holidays once the cable box is gone.  He may actually have to spend time with me.

Welcome to the year of the cards for Emo Marie.  At least theoretically.  I am kind of wondering what I got myself into.  Do you realize that is 365 cards?!?

Well, here is card #1.  TA-DA!

It is a birthday card for Little Man, inspired by this card.

Materials used:
Green/Black cardstock (I think it is Recollections)
Score Board
Spectrum Noir Markers (I snapped a photo of the colors I used, see below)
Heavyweight White cardstock for card base

I scored the green cardstock at 1/2" increments both ways, then colored in random squares with shades of green and yellow.  I cut out the creeper face with my Silhouette and glued it on.  Then I adhered it to a white card base and there you go.  Card #1 is complete!

Paper Smooches SPARKS Hello Card

So it's been over a year since I blogged.  Not that I haven't had anything to say, I just haven't had the time or motivation to sit down and write anything.  We have been chugging along enjoying life, and I have been focusing on building up my craft room.  It's  my happy place, and Deputy D is totally supportive about letting me go in there and craft as long as I want to.

Deputy D and I were talking about New Year's resolutions, and how I never, ever keep them.  Without fail, I have forgotten them by February or March.

So instead of making resolutions this year, I am issuing myself a challenge.  We'll see how this goes.  Been a year since I blogged so obviously sometimes I have trouble sticking to things.

The past year, I have tried my hand at decoupage, vinyl application, rhinestones, and heat transfer vinyl.  I just recently got into card-making and stamping.  So my challenge to myself is this: I want to make one card every day in 2015.

Before you keel over in laughter, let me point out that we have decided to turn off the cable for a while and focus on things besides television and that some cards only take a few minutes to put together.  So I might have a chance at this.

Anyway, as I have been researching card-making, I have come across some amazing companies that I am sad I am just now learning about.  One of them is Paper Smooches.  I also discovered that they have Paper Smooches SPARKS projects with themes, so I decided to go ahead and make a card and submit it, since I received one of their adorable dies this weekend.  It was an anything goes challenge, and here is what I came up with:

For this card, I stamped Impression Obsession's Dotted Arglye background stamp in Simon Says Stamp's white pigment ink on kraft cardstock from Hobby Lobby.  I cut out the "hello" from the Silhouette Online Store (Design #60752) on orange cardstock and then heat embossed it with Ranger Enchanted Gold.  I cut out the glasses with the Glasses Dies from Paper Smooches and cut out glitter paper hearts for the eyes.  I heat embossed the glasses with Ranger Enchanted Gold and Black Sparkle and covered them with Glossy Accents.  I adhered the glasses and sentiment to the kraft cardstock and then adhered that down to a white card base.

I can't wait to order the matching stamp set  and make more fun cards!

Please be sure and check out Paper Smooches at http://www.papersmoochesstamps.com/ and keep checking back here to see if I stick to my challenge!

Make Something Monday - Get Your Kicks on Route 66

This one was tough, because I decided to try and cover the inside of the pockets.  The edges were also tough.  But I think it turned out alright in the end.

Make Something Monday - Mod Podge Tissue Box

I love, love, love the way this tissue box cover turned out.  I purchased the wooden shell at Hobby Lobby, and if you decide to make one, keep in mind that a regular, full-size tissue box will not fix inside with the bottom cover on.  So for future versions, I have decided to not use the bottom lid at all.

Make Something Monday - Mod Podge Picture Frame

Beach-themed picture frame for an anniversary present for my parents.  The beach is my mom's favorite place in the world.  I purchased the wooden frame at Hobby Lobby.
